Proudly We Served: Virgin Islands

Veterans of World War II

In late 2007, the American Legion District 10, Department of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands, authorized a volunteer video production team to produce the documentary, “Proudly We Served, Virgin Islands Veterans of World War II.” This 60-minute video explores the veterans’ motivations for serving in the armed forces and documents their experiences with racial segregation in the United States and the armed services. It also explores their contributions to the war effort and the effects it had on their lives.

 

This video is dedicated with love and respect to the fine young men and women of the Virgin Islands who served their country well in the United States military during World War II.
